Pioneering Indian Ventilator Maker to Expand Portfolio, Creating 450 Jobs in Greater Noida Hub

Greater Noida, India – The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has allocated a 3-acre (12,000 sqm) plot in its pioneering Medical Device Park (Sector 28) to Premier Medical Systems & Devices Pvt. Ltd., a Noida-based firm with a legacy of manufacturing India’s first indigenous ventilator in the 1970s.

The company, formerly known as Medisys, plans to invest ₹60 crore to establish a new manufacturing facility that will not only expand its production of critical-care equipment but also venture into the manufacturing of radiology (X-ray, CT, MRI) and oncology devices (biopsy systems, infusion units). This expansion is expected to create approximately 450 new jobs, significantly boosting local employment and advancing India’s self-reliance in high-end medical technology.

From Ventilators to Oncology: A Legacy of Innovation

Premier Medical Systems has a storied history in Indian medtech:

  • 1970s: Pioneered India’s first locally made ventilator.
  • Current Portfolio: Manufactures ICU ventilators, anesthesia workstations, syringe and infusion pumps at its Sector 63, Noida facility.
  • Market Reach: Supplies products across India and exports to Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

The new plant will replicate these existing product lines while introducing advanced radiology and oncology equipment, marking a significant diversification and technological upgrade.

North India’s First Medical Device Park: A Growing Hub

The 350-acre Medical Device Park is north India’s first dedicated cluster for this sector. It offers:

  • State-of-the-art infrastructure tailored for radiology, cancer care, implants, and diagnostics.
  • Streamlined approvals under the central government’s “Promotion of Medical Device Parks” scheme.
  • YEIDA acts as the state implementing agency, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) approved by the Centre in early 2022.

Current Park Status (Mid-2025):

  • 89 plots allotted to various companies.
  • 23 firms have signed lease deeds.
  • 10 companies have received building-plan approvals.
  • Construction is ongoing at 7 sites, including TI Medical’s 11-acre facility.

Tight Deadline for World-Class Infrastructure

The project is on an ambitious timeline. The central government has directed YEIDA to complete all core infrastructure—including roads, drainage, sewerage, and common scientific facilities—by January 2026.

Additionally, a ₹14.25 crore recreational hub—featuring gyms, food courts, landscaped gardens, and banking facilities—is slated for development, with tendering underway and completion expected within 18 months.

This holistic approach aims to create not just an industrial zone, but a integrated ecosystem for innovation and manufacturing, positioning India as a global hub for affordable, high-quality medical devices.
