Waaree Energies Begins Commercial Production at Gujarat’s Largest Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility.

Waaree Energies a leading player in India’s renewable energy sector, has officially commenced commercial production at its state-of-the-art solar cell manufacturing facility in Chikhli, Gujarat. The company has launched operations with a 1.4 GW Monocrystalline PERC (Mono PERC) solar cell production line, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s solar manufacturing landscape.

A Major Step Towards India’s Clean Energy Future

This milestone represents the first phase of commissioning at what is set to become India’s largest solar cell manufacturing unit. Waaree Energies has ambitious expansion plans, with the facility’s total projected capacity reaching 5.4 GW. The next phase will see the addition of 4 GW of high-efficiency TOPCon solar cells, further strengthening India’s position in the global solar supply chain.

Boosting Domestic Manufacturing & Reducing Import Dependence

According to the company’s official statement, the Chikhli facility is poised to play a crucial role in reducing India’s reliance on imported solar components. By bolstering local manufacturing, Waaree aims to stabilize production costs and ensure a steady supply of advanced solar technology, even amid global supply chain disruptions.

Dr. Amit Paithankar, Whole-Time Director & CEO of Waaree Energies, expressed enthusiasm about this development, stating:

“The commencement of commercial production at our 1.4 GW Mono PERC solar cell line is a significant step toward building a self-sufficient solar ecosystem. This facility aligns with the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, reinforcing India’s energy independence.”

Supporting India’s Renewable Energy Goals

Waaree Energies’ manufacturing expansion is expected to contribute significantly to India’s ambitious renewable energy targets. By increasing the domestic availability of advanced solar technology, the company aims to support both national and international solar energy projects.

This initiative comes at a time when India is making rapid strides toward achieving its clean energy commitments. With government-backed policies promoting domestic solar manufacturing, Waaree’s latest venture is well-positioned to drive long-term growth in the sector while fostering innovation in high-efficiency solar cell technology.

As the company scales operations, it is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of India’s solar industry, strengthening the country’s standing as a global leader in renewable energy production.
