Vedanta Group Targets USD 20 Billion Profit Over the Next Two Years, Says Chairman Anil Agarwal.

Vedanta Group is targeting USD 20 billion in profit over the next two years, Chairman and Founder Anil Agarwal announced during an interaction organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and its Young Leaders Forum in Kolkata.

Highlighting West Bengal’s industrial potential, Mr Agarwal emphasised the state’s skilled workforce, intellectual capital and established industrial ecosystem. He urged businesses to collaborate with the government to attract fresh investments, expand industrial activities and generate employment opportunities.

Key highlights from his address:

🔹 Industrial Expansion: Strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities across aluminium, copper, zinc, iron and steel, and other metals.

🔹 Import Substitution: Reducing dependence on imports through greater domestic resource production, downstream processing and value addition.

🔹 Investment & Employment: Encouraging large-scale industrial investments to create jobs and generate business opportunities for MSMEs, suppliers and entrepreneurs.

🔹 Technology & Innovation: Promoting AI, R&D, advanced manufacturing and domestic production of specialised materials, including high-performance glass for electronics and automobiles.

🔹 Social Responsibility: Advancing women’s participation, with Vedanta targeting 35% women representation across the organisation, alongside initiatives addressing child hunger and financial empowerment.

Mr Agarwal reiterated his vision of building Vedanta into a globally competitive institution that contributes to India’s long-term economic development.

The broader message: India’s next phase of industrial growth will depend on domestic manufacturing, resource security, technological innovation, value addition and large-scale employment generation.
