The state’s strategy marks a shift from simple “screwdriver assembly” to deep-tech vertical integration, aiming to capture a massive slice of India’s $500 billion electronics production target for 2030.
Telangana’s “Value Chain” Blueprint
Minister Sridhar Babu outlined a roadmap designed to move the state up the high-tech value chain. The focus areas for 2026–2030 include:
- Component Ecosystems: Incentivizing the local production of PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards), semiconductor packaging, and display modules to reduce reliance on East Asian imports.
- Infrastructure Corridors: Expanding the EMC (Electronics Manufacturing Clusters) in Fab City and Maheshwaram to provide “plug-and-play” facilities for global OEMs.
- Skilled Workforce: Partnering with the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) to train 50,000 workers annually in specialized fields like SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and robotic assembly.
- R&D Hubs: Encouraging global players to set up product design and engineering centers in Hyderabad to complement their manufacturing units.
