The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) has unveiled its report, “Action Items for Energy Transition in Tamil Nadu,” outlining a strategic roadmap to accelerate the state’s renewable energy ambitions.
Key recommendations include:
✅ CapEx incentives to attract new investments
✅ Wind repowering to maximize existing assets
✅ Manufacturing clusters around Ennore and VOC Port
✅ Expansion of the Green Energy Corridor and grid infrastructure
✅ Faster development of offshore wind projects
✅ Strengthening Tamil Nadu’s role as a global export hub for wind turbines and components
Presented during the Tamil Nadu Wind India Leadership Summit 2026, the report brought together policymakers, government officials and industry leaders to discuss collaborative strategies for scaling investments, improving manufacturing competitiveness and enhancing energy security.
Tamil Nadu already exports wind equipment worth over ₹1,000 crore annually, supporting thousands of jobs. With the right policy support and infrastructure, the state has the potential to become one of the world’s leading manufacturing and export destinations for wind energy technologies.
As India accelerates its clean energy transition, a robust manufacturing ecosystem, efficient transmission infrastructure and industry-government collaboration will be critical to achieving long-term growth while strengthening the country’s renewable energy leadership.
