In a landmark move for India’s climate-conscious industrial sector Stallion India Fluorochemicals Limited (SIFL) has secured environmental clearance for its high-tech R-32 (Difluoromethane) manufacturing plant in Bhilwara, Rajasthan.
This milestone, finalized in late December 2025, marks the company’s aggressive pivot toward backward integration shifting from a distributor and blender to a primary manufacturer of critical refrigerant gases.
Strategic Powerhouse: The Bhilwara Facility
The new plant is strategically located in the RIICO Industrial Area, Ukhaliya (Bhilwara). By producing R-32 locally, Stallion India is directly supporting the “Make in India” initiative and reducing the nation’s reliance on imported base molecules for air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Investment Scale: Approximately ₹200 crore.
- Production Capacity: 10,000 MT per annum of R-32 refrigerant.
- Revenue Potential: The facility is projected to generate roughly ₹500 crore in annual revenue once fully operational.
- By-Product Integration: The plant will also produce 46,460 MTPA of Hydrochloric Acid (30%), creating a secondary revenue stream and maximizing resource efficiency.
Why R-32 Matters: The Green Shift
The global HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) industry is rapidly phasing out older refrigerants like R-410A in favor of R-32.
- Lower GWP: R-32 has a Global Warming Potential that is one-third that of conventional R-410A.
- Energy Efficiency: It requires a smaller refrigerant charge and allows for more compact, energy-efficient cooling units.
- HFO Blending: R-32 is a critical base component for next-generation HFO (Hydrofluoroolefin) blends, which are essential for meeting upcoming international environmental quotas.

The Leadership Vision
Under the guidance of Mr. Shazad Sheriar Rustomji, Chairman & CEO, Stallion India has evolved from its 2002 roots into a specialized leader in industrial gases. This Rajasthan expansion is the jewel in their crown, positioning them to serve major OEMs like Daikin, BlueStar, and Voltas with indigenously produced high-purity gases.
“The Bhilwara facility represents our long-term vision of self-reliance… providing strategic control over key raw materials.” — Shazad Rustomji
