GREATER NOIDA / LUCKNOW – In a major boost to Uttar Pradesh’s green manufacturing ambitions, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has allotted a 200-acre land parcel to SAEL Industries Limited for setting up an integrated solar manufacturing facility with an investment of ₹8,200 crore.
The land, located in Sector 8 near the upcoming Jewar International Airport will be used to establish a state-of-the-art plant for manufacturing 5 GW of solar cells and 5 GW of solar modules using advanced TOPCon technology.
A Strategic Location for a High-Tech Facility
The allotment formalizes a previous “letter of comfort” from the Uttar Pradesh government. The choice of location leverages the Yamuna Expressway’s strategic advantages, including proximity to the Jewar Airport and robust logistics hubs, making it an ideal zone for large-scale, export-oriented manufacturing.
This project underscores YEIDA’s active role in attracting significant industrial investments, particularly in the renewable energy and advanced manufacturing sectors, aligning with the state’s broader economic development goals.
Strengthening India’s Solar Supply Chain
The establishment of a 5 GW TOPCon cell and module facility is a significant step towards strengthening the domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem. TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) is a next-generation solar cell technology known for its higher efficiency and better performance.
By investing in this high-value part of the supply chain, SAEL is contributing to India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) mission in the renewable energy sector, reducing dependency on imported components.
A Growing Renewable Energy Portfolio
SAEL Industries Limited is an established player in the renewable energy space with a diversified portfolio that includes:
- 8,299.5 MWp of solar independent power producer (IPP) projects.
- 3,625 MW of existing TOPCon solar module manufacturing capacity.
