Saatvik Green Energy Powers Up with ₹3,150 Crore Solar Manufacturing Expansion in Odisha.

GANJAM, Odisha – In a major boost to India’s renewable energy ambitions Saatvik Green Energy Limited has announced a massive investment of ₹3,150 crore to expand its solar manufacturing facility in Odisha’s Ganjam district. This strategic move is designed to significantly scale up domestic production of solar cells and modules reducing the country’s reliance on imports.

The expansion will solidify Saatvik’s position as a key player in India’s solar manufacturing landscape and directly support the national goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

A Phased Approach to Gigawatt-Scale Manufacturing

The expansion is structured in two clear phases to be developed within the 57-acre facility located in the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone in Gopalpur:

  • Phase 1: This initial phase will establish a 4 GW solar module capacity (₹550 crore investment) and a 2.4 GW solar cell capacity (₹1,300 crore investment).
  • Phase 2: A subsequent phase will add another 2.4 GW of capacity, bringing the total investment to the announced ₹3,150 crore.

This phased rollout allows for managed growth and aligns with the rising domestic demand for solar components.

Driving Self-Reliance in Solar Energy

The investment is a direct response to India’s push for self-reliance, or “Atmanirbharta,” in the critical renewable energy sector. By manufacturing solar cells and modules domestically, Saatvik will help ensure a more resilient supply chain, offering better quality control, shorter lead times, and competitive pricing for the Indian market.

Prashant Mathur, CEO of Saatvik Green Energy, explained that the expansion is designed to meet growing domestic demand. He also revealed the company’s plans to diversify into solar inverters and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services, transforming Saatvik into a fully integrated renewable energy solutions provider.

Built on a Foundation of Strong Performance

This ambitious expansion is backed by Saatvik’s robust operational performance. In Q1 FY26, the company achieved a module production of 685 MW, utilising 81.47% of its capacity. Furthermore, the company currently holds a strong order book of 4.05 GW, reflecting high market demand and investor confidence in its execution capabilities.

The project is also expected to generate significant employment in the region, contributing to local economic development while advancing national energy goals.
