VISAKHAPATNAM, India – In a landmark push for India’s clean energy transition ReNew Energy Global Plc has announced a colossal investment of ₹82,000 crore (approx. $9.3 billion) in Andhra Pradesh. This includes a fresh investment of ₹60,000 crore announced on November 13 building upon a ₹22,000 crore commitment made in May 2025.
The company signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, outlining a comprehensive plan to establish a fully integrated green energy ecosystem in the state.
Building a Complete Clean Energy Value Chain
The new investment will be channeled into four key projects, moving beyond power generation into high-value manufacturing and storage:
- 6 GW PV Ingot-Wafer Plant: A factory to produce the fundamental building blocks of solar panels, a critical step for India’s self-reliance in solar manufacturing.
- 2 GW Pumped Hydro Project: A massive energy storage solution to provide reliable, round-the-clock power by storing excess energy.
- 300 KTPA Green Ammonia Facility: Production of green ammonia, a clean fuel and fertilizer, using renewable energy.
- 5 GW Hybrid Projects: Combining wind, solar, and battery storage (BESS) to generate consistent and dependable clean power.
A Strategic Partnership for a Sustainable Future
The Hon’ble CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu stated that the investment reinforces the confidence global leaders have in the state’s policies and will accelerate clean energy deployment and job creation.
Sumant Sinha, Founder and CEO of ReNew, emphasized the strategic nature of the investment, saying it brings a “fully integrated clean energy value chain to the state… from wafer to large-scale renewable projects and storage deployment.” This aligns with both the state’s ambitions and the national ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.
Job Creation and National Impact
This expansive project portfolio is expected to generate 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. It directly supports Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious target of generating 78.5 GW of solar and 35 GW of wind power capacity, positioning the state as a national leader in the renewable energy sector.
