On Monday, March 30, 2026, Premier Energies Limited officially commissioned its advanced 5.6 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Seetharampur, Telangana.

This expansion is a landmark moment for the Hyderabad-based company, effectively doubling its production capacity in a single step and solidifying its position as one of India’s largest integrated solar manufacturers.

Facility Snapshot: The Seetharampur “Mega-Plant”

The 75-acre facility is designed for high-speed, high-precision manufacturing, catering to the global shift toward N-type solar technology.

  • Investment: Part of a broader ₹12,500 crore multi-year capital expenditure program.
  • New Capacity: 5.6 GW (Solar Modules).
  • Total Module Capacity: Now stands at 11.1 GW (up from ~5.5 GW).
  • Job Creation: Approximately 2,000 new technical and operational roles.
  • Technology: Specialized in G12R TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) high-efficiency modules.

Advanced Automation: The “16-Second” Cycle

The Seetharampur unit is among the most automated plants in Asia, utilizing a “Zero Busbar” (0BB) architecture and AI-driven quality control.

  1. High Throughput: The assembly lines are capable of producing four modules every 16 seconds, ensuring massive scale for utility-scale projects.
  2. AI-Powered Quality: The facility integrates real-time AI fault detection to identify and rectify microscopic cell defects during the stringing and lamination processes.
  3. Efficiency Gains: The G12R TOPCon technology offers higher energy yield and better performance in low-light conditions compared to traditional P-type Mono PERC modules.

Strategic Context: “Mission 2028”

The commissioning is a key pillar of Premier Energies’ “Mission 2028”, which aims for full vertical integration—from ingots and wafers to finished modules and ancillary components.

  • Backward Integration: The company is currently constructing a 7 GW TOPCon cell plant in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, with the first phase (4.8 GW) expected by June 2026.
  • Ancillary Expansion: Premier is also diversifying into in-house manufacturing of aluminum frames (expected by March 2027), inverters, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Market Position: Listed on the NSE/BSE in late 2024, the company has seen its market capitalization cross ₹40,000 crore as it captures a growing share of the domestic DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) market.

“This facility is a significant milestone in our journey toward a fully integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem. We are positioning ourselves to deliver high-efficiency solutions at scale to support India’s 500 GW non-fossil target.” — Chiranjeev Saluja, Managing Director, Premier Energies.
