Odisha Emerges as Clean Energy Hub as Luminous Power Technologies Unveils ₹2,000 Cr Expansion Plan.

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, during a major industrial summit in Khordha Luminous Power Technologies (wholly owned by Schneider Electric) reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Odisha into its primary hub for clean energy manufacturing in Eastern India.

The company is currently developing two mega-facilities that will allow it to pivot from a power-backup brand to a vertically integrated solar and energy storage giant.

The Gopalpur Solar Hub: High-Tech Upstream Production

Located in the Gopalpur Industrial Park, this facility marks Luminous’ entry into the complex “upstream” solar value chain, moving beyond just panel assembly.

The Angul Facility: Next-Gen Energy Storage

While Gopalpur focuses on generation, the Angul plant is dedicated to the “storage” side of the equation.

Khordha Showcase: The “Connect X” Ecosystem

At the Khordha event, CEO Vivek Abrol showcased how these two plants feed into a unified consumer ecosystem.

  1. Generation: TOPCon bifacial solar panels that harvest energy from both sides.
  2. Conversion & Storage: High-performance hybrid inverters paired with long-lasting Li-ion and lead-acid batteries.
  3. Intelligence: The Connect X app, which provides real-time monitoring of energy generation and storage levels on a smartphone.

Economic & Regional Impact

The Odisha expansion is a cornerstone of Luminous’ broader ₹2,000 crore national investment plan.

“Odisha represents a strategically important market—not only as a manufacturing base but also as a gateway to India’s clean energy ecosystem. Our continued investments reflect our commitment to resilient energy infrastructure.” — Vivek Abrol, CEO & MD, Luminous Power Technologies.
