The Mahindra Group announced its most ambitious industrial expansion to date: a ₹15,000 crore investment to build its largest-ever integrated manufacturing hub in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Announced during the “Advantage Vidarbha” summit this 10-year roadmap elevates the Vidarbha region into a global automotive powerhouse, positioning it as the nerve center for Mahindra’s next-generation vehicle and farm equipment portfolio.
Nagpur Mega-Facility: Scale and Capacity
The Nagpur complex is designed to be a “Super-Hub,” integrating automotive and tractor production within a single 1,500-acre footprint.
| Metric | Target Capacity / Feature |
| Land Area | 1,500 Acres (Nagpur) + 150 Acres (Sambhajinagar) |
| Annual Auto Capacity | Over 5 Lakh Vehicles |
| Annual Tractor Capacity | 1 Lakh Tractors |
| Operational Timeline | Production scheduled to commence in 2028 |
| Total Land Acquisition | 2,000+ Acres across Nagpur, Sambhajinagar, and Nashik |
Technological Core: The NU_IQ Platform
The facility will be the primary production site for Mahindra’s newly unveiled NU_IQ Architecture, a global modular platform that debuted in late 2025.
- Multi-Energy Versatility: The assembly lines are “powertrain agnostic,” capable of building Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Electric Vehicle (EV), and future technology vehicles (such as Hydrogen) on the same line.
- Architecture Highlights:
- Flat-floor design: Enabling class-leading interior space even for ICE models.
- Global Compliance: Benchmarked for 5-star safety ratings (BNCAP/GNCAP) and engineered for both Right-Hand and Left-Hand Drive markets.
- SDV Ready: Built to support “Software Defined Vehicle” features with cloud-integrated domain electronics.
The Ecosystem: Sambhajinagar & Nashik
To support the massive Nagpur output, Mahindra is decentralizing its supply chain while centralizing its technology development.
- Sambhajinagar Supplier Park (150 Acres): * Acts as a feeder hub for the Nagpur plant and existing facilities in Chakan and Nashik.
- Focused on 100% localization of critical components to insulate against global supply chain shocks.
- Igatpuri-Nashik Expansion: * Additional land acquisition to scale up engine manufacturing.
- Dedicated space for the Advanced Technology Business, focusing on battery management systems (BMS), high-performance motors, and autonomous driving tech.
“This facility brings together scale, flexibility, and advanced technology within one integrated footprint. It strengthens our ability to deliver world-class products while staying true to our commitment to ‘Make in India for the World.’” — Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO, Auto and Farm Sector.
