Kinetic Group Enters EV Battery Manufacturing with Rs 50 Crore Facility in Maharashtra.

Pune-based Kinetic Group a renowned name in the automotive components industry has announced its foray into the electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing sector. The company is setting up a state-of-the-art battery production facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra with an investment of Rs 50 crore. This move marks a significant step in India’s journey toward sustainable mobility and self-reliance in battery technology.

A New Era in EV Battery Production

The new facility will produce 60,000 units of Range-X batteries annually catering to the growing demand for two and three-wheeler EVs. These batteries will be available in two advanced variants:

  1. LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate): Known for their stability, safety, and long lifecycle.
  2. NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt): Renowned for their high energy density and longer-lasting power.

In addition to in-house consumption, Kinetic Group plans to supply these batteries to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across the EV industry. The facility will also develop prismatic cells specifically designed for three-wheelers, further expanding its product portfolio.

Pioneering Technology and Sustainability

Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kinetic Group emphasized the facility’s role in India’s mobility transformation. “Range-X is a result of pioneering work in batteries and a significant step toward India’s self-reliance, safety and sustainability in battery technology,” he said.

The Ahmednagar facility integrates automation and smart technology to ensure reliable, efficient and clean energy solutions. This aligns with Kinetic Group’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.

Addressing the Growing EV Market

The Indian EV market is projected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.52%, reaching USD 18.319 billion by 2029. Kinetic Group’s entry into battery manufacturing positions it to capitalize on this growth particularly in the two-wheeler segment which accounts for a significant share of EV sales in India.

Key Features of Range-X Batteries

  • LFP Technology: Offers stable chemical composition reducing the risk of thermal runaway and ensuring peak performance in extreme temperatures.
  • Smart BMS Integration: Enhances efficiency and overall battery health providing a seamless user experience.
  • NMC Technology: Delivers exceptional energy density making it ideal for a wide range of applications.

Supporting India’s Make in India Initiative

Kinetic Group is also focusing on localizing battery management systems (BMS) and leveraging the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes under the PM E-drive initiative. This aligns with the government’s vision of promoting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependency on imports.

A Boost for Maharashtra’s Industrial Growth

The Ahmednagar facility is expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to Maharashtra’s industrial development. By establishing a cutting-edge battery manufacturing unit Kinetic Group is not only addressing the needs of the EV industry but also supporting India’s transition to clean energy.

What’s Next?

With the facility set to become operational soon Kinetic Group is poised to play a pivotal role in India’s EV revolution. The company’s focus on innovation, sustainability and self-reliance will drive its growth in the rapidly evolving EV ecosystem.

As Kinetic Group embarks on this new journey its Rs 50 crore investment in battery manufacturing underscores its commitment to shaping the future of mobility in India.
