Integrated Textile Park to Boost Employment and Exports in Salem, Tamil Nadu.

In a significant development for Tamil Nadu’s textile industry, an Integrated Textile Park will be established in Suramangalam, Salem district. The announcement was made by Tourism Minister R Rajendran with District Collector R Brindha Devi also present. The project initially announced by Chief Minister M K Stalin during the 2021 Assembly session aims to boost employment, exports and economic growth in the region.


Key Highlights of the Integrated Textile Park

  1. Investment and Location:
    • The park will be developed at a cost of ₹800 crore on 119 acres of land in Jagir Ammapalayam.
  2. Employment Generation:
    • The project is expected to create direct employment for 15,000 individuals and indirectly benefit 50,000 more.
  3. Economic Impact:
    • The park is anticipated to generate a business turnover of ₹7,000 crore, with a significant focus on exports.
  4. Timeline:
    • The civic work for the park is expected to be completed within two years.

Additional Facility for Silver Ankle Chain Manufacturers

In addition to the textile park, a separate facility for silver ankle chain manufacturers will be ready in a few months. This facility aims to support local artisans and boost the jewelry manufacturing sector in Salem.
