A Phased Investment in Green Technology
The investment will be deployed in two phases with ₹300 crore allocated for the first phase and the remaining ₹100 crore for the second. The new plant will be dedicated to manufacturing critical wind turbine components including large blades, towers and pillars.
This expansion is set to significantly strengthen Inox Wind’s production capabilities and solidify Karnataka’s position as a key hub for renewable energy manufacturing in India.
Strategic Location for Logistics
The finalization of the location highlights the critical importance of infrastructure for heavy industries. According to Large and Medium Industries Minister M. B. Patil, the company’s Executive Director, Devansh Jain had specifically requested land adjacent to a National Highway.
Minister Patil stated, “He explained that locating the unit in an area without wide good-quality roads would not be viable for transporting massive blades and towers.” This requirement led the company to choose Koppal over its initial interest in Vijayapura district where suitable land near a highway was not available.
The strategic location in the Kyadigoppa Industrial Area with its direct access to the National Highway, will ensure the efficient and cost-effective transportation of these oversized components to project sites across the country.
Boosting Karnataka’s Green Economy
This investment is a direct contribution to both India’s green energy transition and the “Make in India” initiative. By establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing base in Karnataka, Inox Wind is helping to build a domestic supply chain for the wind energy sector reducing import dependence and creating a skilled workforce in the state.
