Chandigarh, Haryana – In a landmark move to accelerate industrial growth in North India the Haryana government has inked a pivotal agreement with the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) to develop a massive Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Hisar.
The ambitious project, spanning 2,988 acres is strategically positioned near the newly inaugurated Maharaja Agrasen International Airport and falls under the broader Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) initiative. With a development cost of ₹4,680 crore, the cluster is projected to attract a monumental ₹32,417 crore in investments and generate over 1.25 lakh employment opportunities, significantly boosting the region’s socio-economic landscape.
A Logistics Powerhouse with Unmatched Connectivity
The IMC Hisar is designed to be a logistics-led industrial ecosystem, offering investors unparalleled advantages:
- Strategic Location: Nestled strategically between the Eastern (EDFC) and Western (WDFC) Dedicated Freight Corridors, ensuring seamless cargo movement across the country.
- Multi-Modal Connectivity: Excellent access via National Highways 52 and 9, robust rail networks, and proximity to major logistics hubs.
- Air Access: The cluster’s location near the Maharaja Agrasen International Airport provides critical connectivity for high-value, time-sensitive industries.
This infrastructure is designed to drastically reduce logistics costs and improve supply chain efficiency for businesses setting up operations within the cluster.
Catalyst for Industrial Growth and Investment
The IMC is envisioned to be more than just an industrial park; it is designed to be a holistic ecosystem:
- Fostering a Business-Friendly Environment: The cluster will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure, including reliable power, water, utilities, and plug-and-play facilities to attract a diverse range of industries.
- Boosting ‘Make in India’: By attracting both domestic and global investors, the cluster will play a crucial role in strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities and export potential.
- Strengthening Haryana’s Industrial Prowess: This project is set to solidify Haryana’s position as a leading industrial hub in North India, complementing its existing strengths in automotive, manufacturing, and IT.
The Bigger Picture: India’s Industrial Corridor Vision
The Hisar IMC is a key node in the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), one of India’s first and most ambitious industrial corridor projects. This initiative aims to create a world-class manufacturing and investment destination across its breadth, leveraging the infrastructure of the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
The signing of this agreement marks a critical step towards realizing this vision, transforming the Hisar region into a magnet for high-value investment and a cornerstone for Haryana’s future economic development.
