Haldiram Snacks to Invest ₹300 Crore in Bihar: MoU Signed for New Manufacturing Plant

Haldiram Snacks, a household name in the packaged food industry, is set to expand its footprint with a significant investment of ₹300 crore in Bihar. The company has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bihar government to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, as announced by Sanjay Singhania, Vice President of Haldiram Snacks Pvt Ltd, during the Bihar Business Connect 2024 summit.

Manufacturing Facility in Bihta, Bihar

The new facility, spanning 12 acres in Sikanderpur, Bihta, will focus on producing sweets, namkeens, and snacks. The plant is projected to become operational by mid-2027 and aims to cater to the growing demand for Haldiram’s popular products in India and abroad.

“We are thrilled to bring our manufacturing operations to Bihar, leveraging the state’s strategic location and growing industrial landscape,” said Singhania.

Part of a Broader Investment Drive

The announcement aligns with the Bihar government’s efforts to attract large-scale investments through the Bihar Business Connect 2024 summit. This year’s summit witnessed MoUs worth ₹1.8 lakh crore, marking a significant leap from ₹53,000 crore secured last year.

Haldiram Snacks’ investment reflects its commitment to contributing to Bihar’s industrial and economic development while scaling its operations to meet increasing consumer demand.

Legacy of Haldiram

Founded in 1937 by Ganga Bhishen Agarwal in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Haldiram has grown into India’s largest packaged snacks and sweets company, offering its products in over 80 countries. The company is also a leading restaurant operator and has been instrumental in popularizing Indian snacks globally.

Over the years, the business has been divided among Agarwal family members in Delhi, Nagpur, and Kolkata, each managing separate ventures. In 2022, plans were announced to demerge the packaged snacks businesses of Delhi-based Haldiram Snacks and Nagpur-based Haldiram Foods International, followed by their merger into a unified entity named Haldiram Snacks Food.

Future Outlook

The upcoming plant in Bihar represents a strategic move to strengthen Haldiram’s production capabilities and expand its market reach. By setting up operations in Bihar, Haldiram also aims to create employment opportunities and contribute to the region’s economic growth.

With a legacy of over 85 years, Haldiram continues to evolve as a leading player in the global packaged food market while staying true to its roots of delivering quality and authenticity in every product.
