Goldi Solar Announces Large-Scale Solar Cell and Module Expansion in Gujarat.

Table of Contents

Goldi Solar is preparing for a massive technological leap aiming to become one of India’s most integrated renewable energy players by FY28. The company has announced a roadmap to add 5 GW of module capacity and a staggering 16 GW of solar cell capacity directly addressing the supply chain gaps in India’s green energy mission.

This expansion is a strategic pivot from being a pure-play module assembler to a backward-integrated manufacturer capable of producing the high-tech “hearts” of solar panels.

The Vision: FY28 Capacity Roadmap

By the end of the 2028 fiscal year Goldi Solar’s manufacturing landscape will look significantly different:

  • Solar Modules: Increasing from the current 15.2 GW to over 20 GW.
  • Solar Cells: A massive jump from a nascent 1.2 GW facility currently under setup to a total of 16 GW.
  • Technology Focus: The new lines will prioritize TOPCon N-type bifacial cells, which offer higher efficiency and better performance in high-heat environments compared to traditional P-type cells.

Why This Matters: The Policy Tailwind

Goldi Solar’s aggressive growth is timed to coincide with major Indian government initiatives:

  • PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana: This rooftop solar scheme is creating unprecedented demand in the residential sector, where Goldi Solar already has a strong presence.
  • ALMM Framework: Being an ALMM-approved manufacturer ensures that Goldi Solar’s modules are eligible for government-subsidized projects, shielding them from low-quality imports.
  • Make in India: By manufacturing cells domestically, the company reduces the industry’s heavy reliance on Chinese cell imports, strengthening India’s energy security.

Strategic Footprint: The Surat Hub

Operating out of three units near Surat, Gujarat, Goldi Solar leverages the state’s robust industrial infrastructure and proximity to major ports for raw material sourcing. The expansion will allow them to serve three distinct markets simultaneously:

  1. Utility-Scale: Large-scale solar farms requiring high-wattage bifacial modules.
  2. Commercial & Industrial (C&I): Businesses looking to offset high grid tariffs.
  3. Residential Rooftop: Homeowners utilizing government subsidies for clean energy.
