Godrej Enterprises Group Invests Rs 200 Crore to Expand Dahej Manufacturing Unit, Boosting Clean Energy Goals.

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI): Godrej Enterprises Group has announced a significant investment of Rs 200 crore to expand its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Dahej, Gujarat. This move underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing advancing India’s clean energy goals, and positioning the country as a global hub for process equipment manufacturing.

A Strategic Expansion for Clean Energy Solutions

The investment is part of the Phase-III expansion of the Dahej facility, which will increase its annual manufacturing capacity to approximately 30,000 metric tons (MT). The expanded facility will focus on producing high-end and critical process equipment for sectors such as hydrogen, nuclear, and geothermal energy, as well as conventional energy projects like refineries and petrochemicals.

Hussain Shariyarr, Executive Vice President and Business Head of the Process Equipment business at Godrej Enterprises Group, highlighted the significance of this expansion. “The global energy landscape is undergoing a transformative shift toward cleaner, more sustainable solutions. This strategic expansion demonstrates our commitment to leading this evolution and strengthening India’s position in the global energy transition,” he said.

Key Features of the Expanded Facility

  • Extended Fabrication Yard: Dedicated to manufacturing large and complex process equipment, including units up to 16 meters in diameter and 140 meters in length.
  • Advanced Heat Treatment Furnace: A 30m x 10m furnace designed to reduce carbon emissions during operations.
  • Sea-Going Jetty: Enables direct loading and transportation of over-dimensional equipment to international markets, enhancing export capabilities.

Aligning with National Initiatives

The expansion aligns with the Indian government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, as well as the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The Union Budget’s allocation of Rs 37,000 crore for clean energy projects further supports Godrej’s vision.

Shariyarr also praised the recent allocation of Rs 20,000 crore for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the Union Budget. “This will help meet our clean energy demands and achieve the climate goals set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by 2070,” he said.

A Global Manufacturing Hub

Godrej’s Dahej facility, commissioned in 2016, is a key player in the global process equipment market. Currently, 70% of its production is exported to over 40 countries across six continents, with a strong focus on the Americas and the Middle East. The expansion will further enhance its export capabilities and solidify India’s position as a global manufacturing hub.

Venturing into the Nuclear Energy Sector

Godrej Enterprises Group is among the three fabricators in India capable of manufacturing components for nuclear power plants. Shariyarr emphasized the growing opportunities in this sector. “The kind of boom coming in the nuclear energy sector ensures a very good future for our business growth,” he said.

Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation

The expanded facility will not only increase production capacity but also incorporate sustainable practices. The advanced heat treatment furnace, for instance, is designed to minimize carbon emissions, reflecting Godrej’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

What’s Next?

With the Phase-III expansion, Godrej Enterprises Group aims to achieve a 15-20% growth in the next two to three years. The company’s focus on clean energy solutions, coupled with its global reach, positions it as a key player in India’s transition to a sustainable future.

As Godrej continues to innovate and expand, its investments in the Dahej facility will play a pivotal role in driving India’s clean energy ambitions and strengthening its presence in the global market.
