GE Aerospace boosts its ‘Make in India’ commitment with a new $14 million investment in its Pune facility. Discover how this expansion strengthens India’s role in global aerospace supply chains.

PUNE, India – In a powerful endorsement of India’s manufacturing prowess GE Aerospace has announced a fresh investment of $14 million (approx. ₹124 crore) to expand its manufacturing facility in Pune. This latest infusion takes the total capital committed to the 10-year-old site to a substantial $44 million in less than two years.

The move signals a strategic deepening of GE’s roots in India, transforming its Pune operation into a critical global hub for producing high-tech engine components.

Powering the World’s Jets, Made in Pune

The components manufactured at the Pune facility are integral to some of the world’s most advanced and fuel-efficient jet engines. These include:

Essentially, when you see a modern passenger plane in the sky, there’s a strong chance a part from Pune is helping to power its journey.

Building Capability and a Skilled Workforce

The new investment is earmarked for upgrading manufacturing processes and introducing advanced automation. This will enhance the site’s capability to produce increasingly sophisticated engine components with precision and efficiency.

Beyond machinery, the facility has played a “vital role” in developing local talent. Over the past decade, it has trained more than 5,000 production associates in precision manufacturing, creating a skilled workforce that is the backbone of this high-tech operation.

What began as a multi-business site has now evolved into a specialized, high-tech supplier for GE’s commercial engine factories across the globe.

A Strong Vote for ‘Make in India’

Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of GE Aerospace’s Pune facility, directly linked the investment to the national ‘Make in India’ initiative. “The latest investment reflects our commitment to the Make in India initiative and to advancing India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing,” Singh stated.

The Pune facility’s success is also a story of Indian enterprise. A network of over 300 suppliers serves the plant, and across India, GE Aerospace works with a vast ecosystem of over 2,200 suppliers, showcasing the depth and capability of the country’s manufacturing sector.

With this expansion, GE Aerospace is not just building a factory; it is fortifying India’s position as an indispensable link in the global aerospace supply chain.
