Zetwerk Electronics officially launched its world-class Manufacturing Excellence facility at the KIADB Hi-Tech Hardware Park in Bengaluru. This inauguration, presided over by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and State Minister M B Patil, marks a pivotal shift for Zetwerk as it enters high-end manufacturing for mission-critical sectors.
The facility is a key component of India’s ambitious roadmap to reach $500 billion in national electronics production by 2031.

This isn’t just another assembly unit; it is designed for the high-reliability demands of the “Strategic Electronics” segment.
- Sector Focus: Defense, Aerospace, Automotive, Medical Devices, and IT Hardware.
- Infrastructure: * 100,000 sq. ft. of advanced shop floor space.
- State-of-the-art SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and FATP (Final Assembly, Test, and Pack) lines.
- Specialized Cleanroom environments for sensitive aerospace components.
- An Environmental Stress Testing Laboratory to ensure product durability in extreme conditions.
- Workforce: Expected to employ over 1,200 skilled professionals at full scale.
The “Semicon 2.0” Context
Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw used this platform to announce that 2026 is a landmark year for Indian high-tech:
- First “Made in India” Chips: The first commercially produced chips from Indian semiconductor plants are expected to be ready later this year.
- Policy Expansion: The budget for the electronic component manufacturing scheme (ECMS) has been nearly doubled from ₹22,000 crore to ₹40,000 crore.
- Semicon 2.0: This next phase will focus on the entire value chain, including semiconductor chemicals, gases, and specialized equipment manufacturing.
Karnataka: The Global Component Hub
Karnataka continues to lead the electronics surge with a robust ecosystem:
- Investment Flow: Over ₹10,000 crore in fresh investments currently flowing into the state.
- Project Approvals: 46 major electronic projects have already been greenlit in the current cycle.
- Infrastructure Support: The state is investing ₹4,000 crore specifically to ensure reliable water and power for industrial clusters like the KIADB Hi-Tech Park.
