On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the Epic Group, a global leader in apparel manufacturing, inaugurated its $100 million Trimetro Manufacturing Campus in Khordha, Odisha.

This facility is a landmark for the Indian textile industry, as it stands as the country’s first fully net-zero carbon and net-zero water garment manufacturing facility. Production at the 40-acre site officially commenced on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Project Blueprint: Sustainability at Scale

The Trimetro Campus is designed to be a “factory of the future,” blending high-volume industrial output with extreme environmental efficiency.

  • Investment: $100 million, supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) via a sustainability-linked and green loan package.
  • Annual Output: 20 million garments destined for major global markets.
  • Workforce: Expected to generate 10,000 jobs, with a strategic focus on gender diversity—80% of the workforce will be women.
  • Strategic Hub: The campus serves as Epic Group’s primary hub for its South Asian expansion, complementing its existing large-scale operations in Bangladesh.

Technical Focus: The “Net-Zero” Ecosystem

Epic Group Chairman Ranjan Mahtani emphasized that the campus was built to exceed global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.

Odisha: The New Apparel Hub

The inauguration, led by Odisha Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, highlights the state’s success in attracting high-tech manufacturing beyond its traditional mineral and metal base.

  1. Industrial Policy: The project benefited from Odisha’s GOPAL portal and the state’s aggressive incentives for non-polluting “white-category” industries.
  2. Infrastructure: Khordha’s proximity to the Bhubaneswar industrial corridor provides Epic Group with the logistical connectivity required for rapid export cycles.
  3. Skilled Workforce: The state’s focus on vocational training has provided a ready pool of workers for the facility’s precision stitching and quality control lines.

“At Epic, we believe that industrial progress and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. The Trimetro Campus represents a powerful convergence of advanced manufacturing and inclusive economic growth.” — Ranjan Mahtani, Founder and Chairman, Epic Group.
