De Heus India opens a $17M state-of-the-art animal feed plant in Rajpura, Punjab. The 180,000-tonne facility will boost local livestock sector with advanced European technology.
In a significant boost to North India’s livestock and dairy industry De Heus India, a part of the global De Heus Animal Nutrition has inaugurated a state-of-the-art animal feed factory in Rajpura, Punjab. The facility representing an investment of approximately USD 17 million, was officially opened on October 1, 2025.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Dutch Ambassador Marisa Gerards, underscoring the project’s importance for both regional economic development and international collaboration.
A Facility Designed for Quality and Scale
The new factory is one of the largest of its kind in India, with an initial installed capacity of 180,000 tonnes per year which is expandable to 240,000 tonnes. A key feature of the plant is its dedicated, separate production lines for different livestock segments, including:
- Cattle feed
- Buffalo feed
- Poultry feed
- Pig feed
This segregation ensures specialized, high-quality nutrition for each animal type preventing cross-contamination and optimizing feed efficacy. The facility utilizes advanced European technology and high levels of automation to ensure consistent product quality and operational efficiency.
Driving Economic Growth and Sustainability
The project is set to have a substantial socio-economic impact on the region. It is expected to create over 300 direct employment opportunities and support hundreds more indirect jobs through local suppliers and ancillary services. The company’s commitment to sourcing raw materials domestically will provide a significant and stable market for local farmers and agri-businesses.
Chairman Mr. Co De Heus emphasized the company’s long-term vision, reiterating their dedication to “sharing global expertise and fostering sustainable growth in India’s livestock sector.”
By introducing advanced nutritional solutions and best practices, De Heus aims to enhance the productivity and profitability of Indian farmers, contributing to a more resilient and modern agricultural ecosystem in Punjab and beyond. The plant stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to being a reliable partner in India’s journey towards sustainable food security.
