Dabur India Limited marked a historic milestone by breaking ground on its first-ever manufacturing facility in South India. The ₹400 crore plant, located at the SIPCOT Food Park in Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, was virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.
This strategic move places “Made in Tamil Nadu” at the center of Dabur’s regional growth, specifically aimed at serving the Southern markets—which currently account for nearly 20% of the company’s domestic business—with greater speed and freshness.

“Green & Inclusive” Manufacturing
Dabur has designed the Tindivanam plant to be a global benchmark for responsible and sustainable industrial operations:
- 100% Renewable Energy: The entire facility will run on green energy, aligning with Dabur’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality.
- Women-Led Workforce: In a major push for diversity, the company plans for the plant to be operated by a predominantly female workforce.
- Agro-Linkages: The plant’s location in the Villupuram district is strategic for sourcing raw materials (like mango and guava pulp) from nearby regions like Krishnagiri and the Delta belt, directly benefiting local farmers.
Economic Impact
- Investment: ₹400 crore over five years (with roughly ₹135 crore deployed in the initial phase).
- Employment: Direct jobs for 250 people, with the potential for thousands of indirect opportunities in the supply chain and logistics sectors.
- Skill Development: Dabur committed to building “future-ready” technical skills among the local youth to support modern FMCG manufacturing.
“Tamil Nadu gives us the platform to scale with agility. This facility is a defining step in building Dabur’s next chapter—manufacturing that is faster, smarter, greener, and closer to the consumer.” — Mohit Malhotra, CEO, Dabur India Ltd.
