BENGALURU, India – Collins Aerospace a business of RTX, has officially opened its new, state-of-the-art Collins India Operations Centre (CIOC) at the KIADB Aerospace Park in Bengaluru. The sprawling 26-acre facility is designed to significantly enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities for a wide range of advanced aerospace systems destined for global markets.
The new center will produce critical aircraft components, including passenger seats, lighting and cargo systems, communication and navigation systems, and evacuation slides, consolidating production for more than 70 different Collins products under one roof.
A Hub of Technological and Operational Excellence
The CIOC is not just a manufacturing plant; it’s a smart factory equipped with cutting-edge technologies. The facility will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), additive manufacturing (3D printing), and robotics to drive efficiency. An integrated Industry 4.0 building management system will ensure superior production speed and quality.
Roy Gullickson, Senior Vice President of Operations at Collins Aerospace, stated that the CIOC will “drive operations and manufacturing… enhancing worldwide service transformation and delivering operational excellence.”
Commitment to Sustainability and Local Employment
Reflecting Collins Aerospace’s commitment to environmental responsibility, the facility has been certified LEED Silver and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Silver. The center is also a major boost for local employment, with expectations to hire over 2,200 people by 2026.
This investment strengthens Collins’ 30-year legacy in India, where it already employs over 6,500 people across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions. It follows the recent announcement of a new engineering development and test centre in Bengaluru, highlighting the country’s strategic importance in Collins’ global growth strategy.
