On Thursday, April 23, 2026, Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering inaugurated its new 7,600-square-meter lean manufacturing facility at its Centre of Excellence in Tunikibollaram.
This facility is a dedicated “plant-within-a-plant” built exclusively to support the global supply chain of Baker Hughes, a world leader in energy and industrial technology.
The Baker Hughes Partnership: From Airfoils to Integrated Systems
What started as a supplier relationship eight years ago has evolved into a deep strategic alliance.
- Scope of Work: The new facility will manufacture critical rotating airfoils for gas and steam turbine finish stages, as well as specialized components for Baker Hughes’ industrial and energy technology (IET) business.
- Special Processes: Unlike standard machining units, this facility includes in-house special process capabilities (such as specialized coatings and heat treatments), reducing lead times and ensuring end-to-end quality control.
- Strategic Alignment: The facility supports Baker Hughes’ long-term growth strategy by diversifying its global sourcing away from traditional high-cost centers toward India’s high-precision hubs.

Telangana: India’s Precision Engineering Powerhouse
The inauguration highlights the explosive growth of the manufacturing ecosystem in Telangana, as noted by Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu:
- Growth Metrics: The state’s precision engineering sector has maintained a 30% year-on-year growth for a decade.
- Export Surge: Engineering exports from Telangana grew by a staggering 103% in the last year (2025–2026).
- OEM Ecosystem: Azad Engineering joins a league of local firms supporting global giants like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Safran, and Airbus, all of whom have established repeat investment footprints in the state.
- MSME Backbone: Over 1,500 MSMEs in the state act as a tier-2 and tier-3 supply base, providing the specialized tooling and raw materials required for precision firms.
“This facility is a blueprint for the world-class collaborations our ecosystem is built to deliver. Our vision is to move beyond manufacturing and establish Telangana as a Global Centre for Engineering Innovation.” — D. Sridhar Babu, Minister for Industries & IT, Telangana.
