Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering a leading manufacturer of complex components has inaugurated a state-of-the-art lean manufacturing facility for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) at Tuniki Bollaram in Telangana. The facility designed to enhance efficiency and reduce waste marks a significant milestone in India’s growing reputation as a global manufacturing hub.

Lean manufacturing focuses on eliminating waste, improving workflow and maximizing customer value through principles such as value stream mapping, smooth flow, pull systems and continuous improvement. The new 7,200 sq m facility embodies these principles, integrating cutting-edge technology to produce high-precision components for MHI.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Masahito Kataoka Senior Vice President of the GTCC Business Division, Energy System, MHI Japan; Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of Industries & Commerce, Telangana; and Rakesh Chopdar, Chairman and CEO of Azad Engineering.

The facility currently employs 200 skilled professionals with plans to expand the workforce by several hundred in the near future. It is part of Azad Engineering’s Centre for Excellence and Innovation which aims to strengthen India’s position in the global manufacturing landscape.
Jayesh Ranjan highlighted the significance of the facility, stating, “The inauguration of this facility coupled with the prestigious recognition from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, underscores India’s rising prominence as a preferred manufacturing hub.”

Azad Engineering’s collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries spans over a decade. The company was recently honored with the ‘2024 Partner of the Year’ Award by MHI, a recognition granted to only one company among MHI’s global network of over 1,000 partners.
Rakesh Chopdar, Chairman and CEO of Azad Engineering, emphasized the importance of the new facility, saying, “The inauguration of this exclusive facility marks a new chapter in our decade-long partnership with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. This plant is the first of many dedicated facilities we are building to meet the growing demand of our global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners.”
He added, “Once all our dedicated facilities at the AZAD Centre of Excellence and Innovation are operational, we will employ over 2,000 highly skilled and trained professionals.”
