On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, generic drug major Aurobindo Pharma, through its subsidiary TheraNyM Biologics, formally inaugurated its state-of-the-art ₹1,200 crore advanced biologics manufacturing facility at Borpatla village in the Sangareddy district of Telangana.
The massive greenfield complex was officially opened by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu alongside Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, marking a major step forward for India’s high-margin contract biomanufacturing landscape.

- Fill-Finish Infrastructure: Equipped with an advanced vial-filling isolator line capable of commercial output tracking up to 25 to 30 million vials per annum.
- Employment Generation: The factory is projected to create highly skilled direct and indirect job opportunities for over 1,500 local youth.

- The Master Service Agreement (MSA): The plant’s foundation relies on a critical contract manufacturing organization (CMO) partnership signed with global pharma giant Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) Singapore Trading Pte. Ltd.
- Product Schedule Expansion: Earlier this year, TheraNyM finalized an expanded product schedule with MSD. Under this agreement, the Borpatla facility acts as a key global outsourcing anchor, manufacturing biological drug substances that will be exported directly to stringently regulated markets including the United States and Europe.
- Strict Isolation Standards: The integration of high-end isolator lines ensures compliance with strict U.S. FDA and EMA barrier-isolation mandates, preventing batch cross-contamination during the sterile fill-finish process.
Consolidating Telangana’s Life Sciences Monopoly
The launch aligns directly with Hyderabad’s broader objective to capture a massive slice of the global biopharma outsourcing market, building on its reputation as the “Vaccine Capital of the World.”
By focusing on mammalian cell cultures—the foundation for advanced monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and biosimilars—Telangana is moving up the value chain from basic chemical blending to deep biotechnology fabrication.
