Amaravati – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, made a compelling case for global corporations, including tech giant Google, to invest in the state. He highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s industrial potential and its vision to become a global tech and manufacturing hub.
Proposal to Google for Chip Design and Manufacturing in Visakhapatnam
Naidu emphasized the port city of Visakhapatnam as an ideal location for Google to set up a chip design and manufacturing unit. This comes in light of Google’s growing focus on producing chips for server operations.
- During his meeting with Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, Naidu urged Google to explore the potential of Visakhapatnam as part of its supply chain.
- The CM expressed confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s talented workforce, stating:“With our exceptionally talented youth, we’re poised to redefine the future of tech!”
Naidu also assured Google of full state support for its initiatives and proposed Andhra Pradesh as a hub for the company’s server operations.
Green Energy Investment: Petronas in Focus
Naidu held discussions with Muhammad Taufiq, President and Group CEO of Petronas, to attract investments in the state’s petrochemical hub at Mulapeta.
- Petronas is planning to invest ₹15,000 crore in a green ammonia plant in Kakinada, as part of its target to produce 5 million tonnes of green ammonia by 2030.
- The company is also exploring opportunities in green hydrogen and green molecules in India.
Discussions with PepsiCo for Expansion in Visakhapatnam
The CM met with Eugene Willemsen, CEO of Pepsi International Franchise Beverages, and Stephen Kehoe, Chairman of the PepsiCo Foundation.
- He proposed setting up PepsiCo’s global delivery centre and a PepsiCo digital hub in Visakhapatnam.
- Naidu further suggested establishing a KurKure manufacturing unit and collaborating with Andhra Pradesh farmers to support the company’s supply chain needs.
Collaboration with Bahrain and Mumtalakat
The Chief Minister also met with representatives from Bahrain, including Hamad Al Mahmeed of the Prime Minister’s Office and Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat.
- He showcased Andhra Pradesh’s new industrial policies and invited them to experience the state’s ‘Speed of Doing Business.’
