Punjab’s Minister for Industries and Commerce, Sanjeev Arora announced a massive ₹1,003.57 crore greenfield investment by AISRM Multimetals Private Limited (a subsidiary of the ₹2,200-crore Arora Iron Group).

The project involves setting up a state-of-the-art special steel facility in Ludhiana, specifically targeting the high-grade steel requirements of the automotive and engineering sectors.

Project Blueprint & Timeline

The facility is positioned to be a technological benchmark for North India’s metallurgical industry.

  • Location: 46 acres at Village Jaspallon, situated on the Doraha-Khanna Road, District Ludhiana.
  • Capacity: An installed production capacity of 5.40 lakh MTPA (Metric Tonnes Per Annum).
  • Operational Cycle: Triple-shift basis for 350 days a year, ensuring high asset utilization.
  • Phased Rollout: The project will be implemented in three distinct phases, with Phase 1 targeted for completion by September 2027.

Product Mix & Advanced Technology

AISRM is moving beyond standard steel to “special and alloy” grades using high-tech scrap-to-steel conversion processes.

CategoryProducts & Technologies
Product PortfolioRound Bars, Wire Rods, Coils, and Flats.
Melting & RefiningElectric Arc Furnace (EAF), Induction Furnaces, and Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF).
Specialized ProcessingVacuum Degassing and Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) for impurity-free high-grade alloys.
Casting & RollingContinuous Casting Machines and high-speed Rolling Mills.

Economic & Employment Impact

The investment is a major win for the Punjab government’s industrial localization push:

  • Direct Jobs: The plant is expected to generate 920+ high-value jobs in engineering and operations.
  • Ancillary Growth: By producing high-grade steel locally, it will lower raw material costs for Ludhiana’s massive auto-component and fastener clusters.
  • Strategic Vision: Minister Arora noted that this project aligns with the upcoming Industrial Policy 2026, aimed at making Punjab a top-tier investment destination under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal.

“This facility will not only strengthen Punjab’s special steel ecosystem but also reinforce Ludhiana’s position as a major metallurgical hub in North India.” — Sanjeev Arora, Minister for Industries & Commerce.
