Airfloa Rail Technology enters defence manufacturing via a new JV with Big Bang Boom Solutions. The partnership will scale advanced tech like electronic warfare and AI systems for India’s defence sector.
In a strategic move to tap into India’s growing defence sector Airfloa Rail Technology Ltd has entered a joint venture (JV) with Big Bang Boom Solutions Private Limited (BBBS). The agreement establishes an exclusive platform dedicated to manufacturing cutting-edge defence technologies within the country.
The JV structure gives Airfloa a controlling 51% stake with BBBS holding the remaining 49%. This partnership is designed to bridge the gap between innovation and industrial-scale production in critical defence areas.
From Development to Deployment: Scaling Advanced Technologies
The core mission of the joint venture is to take advanced defence systems currently under development at BBBS and transition them into full-scale manufacturing. The collaboration will focus on a high-tech portfolio, including:
- Electronic Warfare Systems: Including next-generation directed energy weapons.
- AI-Based Autonomous Platforms: For unmanned and intelligent operations.
- High-Precision Components & Advanced Materials: Leveraging nanotechnology for superior performance.
- Defence-Grade Integration & Testing: Ensuring robust and reliable systems for the armed forces.
A Strategic Diversification for Long-Term Growth
For Airfloa this JV marks a significant step in its diversification strategy beyond its core railway business. The company is explicitly targeting the high-growth potential in segments like Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), electronic warfare and advanced materials.
Manikandan Dakshnamoorthy, Joint Managing Director of Airfloa, called the JV an “important step forward.” He stated, “The JV positions us strongly in a sector that offers high growth, high value creation, and strong policy tailwinds… our diversification strategy strengthens our long-term sustainability.”
For its partner, BBBS, the alliance provides the industrial muscle and platform needed to move from the lab to the field. R. Shivaraman, CTO and Co-Founder of BBBS, noted that the collaboration “enables us to industrialise our technologies at scale and accelerate deployment across India’s defence ecosystem.”
This partnership underscores a broader trend of Indian companies aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative for defence, aiming to build a self-reliant and technologically advanced domestic manufacturing base.
