Avaada Group Advances ₹20,000 Crore Green Ammonia Project in Odisha; Targets Offtake Agreements by 2027

India’s green hydrogen ecosystem is gaining momentum, with Avaada Group advancing its ambitious green ammonia and green methanol projects.

🏭 1. Green Ammonia Project – Gopalpur, Odisha

Avaada is investing approximately ₹20,000 crore to develop a large-scale green ammonia manufacturing facility at Gopalpur, Odisha.

Key project highlights:

  • Investment: ₹20,000 crore
  • Proposed Capacity: 1,500 tonnes per day (TPD)
  • Current Status: Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) stage
  • Expected Commissioning: Around 2030
  • Offtake Agreements: Targeted by 2027

The company has already secured European Union RFNBO (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin) certification for 85% of the planned production capacity and is in discussions with European buyers for long-term offtake agreements.

According to Vineet Mittal, Founder and Chairman of Avaada Group, the company expects to move towards binding offtake agreements by next year.

🏭 2. Green Methanol Project – Nagpur, Maharashtra

Avaada is also exploring a green methanol manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, with a proposed investment in the range of ₹20,000 crore.

  • Land allocation discussions with the Maharashtra Government are underway.
  • Project size and final investment are yet to be determined.
  • The project is currently at the conceptualisation stage.
  • RFNBO certification is also being pursued.

🌍 Why This Matters

These projects could strengthen India’s position in the global green hydrogen derivatives market, particularly in green ammonia and green methanol, while creating opportunities in renewable energy, industrial infrastructure, exports and clean-fuel manufacturing.

With growing demand from European markets, India’s green molecule manufacturing ecosystem is emerging as a significant investment opportunity.
