According to The Economic Times, Linde executives said Sanand is emerging as a major growth hub for semiconductor packaging, with upcoming projects associated with Micron, CG Power and Kaynes Technology.
The proposed facility is expected to enable Linde to supply semiconductor customers directly from a strategically located production base. The company has already begun discussions with potential customers regarding long-term gas supply arrangements.
Industrial and specialty gases play a critical role throughout semiconductor manufacturing, including processes such as:

🔹 Etching and material removal
🔹 Chamber atmosphere control
🔹 Equipment cleaning
🔹 Semiconductor packaging processes
The Sanand investment will further strengthen Linde’s presence in Gujarat, complementing its existing air separation facility at Dahej and packaged gases unit in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, Linde is also developing an air separation unit in Dholera, another emerging semiconductor hub in Gujarat. The facility is expected to be ready in the second half of 2027 and will produce oxygen, nitrogen and argon for upcoming electronics and semiconductor projects.
Linde has also held discussions with the Gujarat government regarding incentives available under initiatives including ISM 2.0 and state-level programmes.
The development highlights the growing importance of industrial-gas infrastructure as an enabling ecosystem for India’s semiconductor manufacturing ambitions, alongside investments in fabs, OSAT facilities, electronics manufacturing and advanced packaging.
