On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a major integrated solar manufacturing hub operated by AMPIN Solar One—a strategic joint venture between Jupiter International and AMPIN Energy Transition.

This facility, located in Odisha, is one of the largest operational solar hubs in Eastern India and marks a shift toward deep-tier domestic manufacturing rather than simple assembly.

Integrated Manufacturing: Cells & Modules

Unlike most “module-only” plants that import solar cells from overseas, this facility is designed for full vertical integration under one roof.

  • Annual Capacity: 1.3 GW (Gigawatt).
  • Dual-Stream Production: The plant manufactures both high-efficiency Solar Cells (the engine of the panel) and the final Solar Modules.
  • Target Market: The facility serves as a captive supply chain for AMPIN’s own utility-scale projects and acts as a merchant supplier for other renewable developers across India.

Strategic & Economic Drivers

The project is a cornerstone of Odisha’s industrial roadmap and India’s broader energy security strategy.

  1. PLI Scheme Alignment: The plant is a beneficiary of the Central Government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which provides financial support to manufacturers who achieve high local value addition, helping them compete with lower-cost imports.
  2. Eastern India Investment: This hub is part of a larger ₹3,100 crore commitment by AMPIN Energy Transition for the Eastern region, which includes over 600 MW of renewable energy projects currently under development.
  3. Meeting Local Demand: Odisha expects its power demand to double by 2030. This facility provides a local, low-carbon source of generation capacity to meet that surge.
  4. Supply Chain Resilience: By making cells in-house, the JV reduces its vulnerability to international silicon price volatility and shipping bottlenecks.

The “Manufacturing Backbone” Vision

Alok Garodia, CMD of Jupiter International, highlighted that the facility is meant to be the “backbone” of India’s energy transition. However, industry analysts note that the project’s long-term competitive edge will rely on its ability to secure stable polysilicon and wafer supplies, which remain the final frontier of import dependency.

“This facility is a milestone for Odisha’s industrial landscape. It aligns our manufacturing strength with the state’s goal of sustainable growth and positions us as a leader in India’s green energy shift.” — Alok Garodia, CMD, Jupiter International.
