NEW DELHI – In a powerful endorsement of India’s semiconductor potential Japanese supply chain leader Fujifilm Electronic Materials has announced its keenness to establish a manufacturing facility in India. The announcement, made on the sidelines of the Semicon India 2025 event signals a significant step forward in building a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem within the country.
The company, a key global supplier of high-purity chemicals and materials essential for wafer processing is actively exploring new investments and hiring in India to cater to the nascent but rapidly growing fabrication (fab) ecosystem spurred by projects like Micron’s assembly and test facility.

Tetsuya Iwasaki, General Manager for Fujifilm’s Electronic Materials Business Division, articulated a clear vision for India, distinguishing it from other global manufacturing hubs. “India has a big potential… built on its skilled people,” Iwasaki stated.
He highlighted two core strengths that make India an attractive destination:
- Rich Resources in Talent and Technology:Â India’s strong foundation in technology, driven by its vast pool of skilled engineers and technicians, is a primary draw.
- Robust Domestic Demand: The presence of multiple industries with insatiable appetite for chips—including automotive, electronics, data centers, and module packaging—creates a strong internal market, offering stability and growth opportunities for incoming manufacturers.
A Three-Pronged Strategy for Collaboration
