In a significant move to strengthen India’s position in the global semiconductor and electronics market Tata Electronics has announced plans to set up a state-of-the-art display manufacturing unit in Gujarat. This initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) and Himax Technologies, Inc. The three companies signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday marking a major step forward in the display semiconductor and ultra-low power AI sensing markets.
The agreement was formalized at the IESA Vision Summit in Gujarat an event dedicated to advancing India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem. The partnership aims to combine the strengths of Tata Electronics, PSMC and Himax Technologies to deliver end-to-end display semiconductor solutions. These solutions will encompass chip design, manufacturing, packaging, and electronics manufacturing services (EMS), catering to both Indian and global markets.

Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD of Tata Electronics, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “This MoU with Himax and PSMC will enable the development of differentiated solutions for display-related semiconductor products for our mutual customers.”
