Molding Solutions (operating under the Barnes Molding Solutions umbrella) officially inaugurated its new 16,000-square-meter greenfield facility in Pune, India. This move marks a strategic shift for the company, establishing India as its primary manufacturing and service hub for Asia outside of China.

The inauguration was followed by a partner and customer event on January 21, highlighting the site’s role in the “local-for-local” manufacturing strategy.


Investment and Capacity Roadmap

The facility, located in the Chakan industrial corridor, represents a significant capital commitment to capture India’s rapidly expanding plastics market.

  • Total Projected Investment: $50 million as operations scale.
  • Production Scope: The plant currently manufactures approximately 50% of the company’s product portfolio, specifically focusing on Synventive and Thermoplay hot runner systems.
  • Workforce: Expected to reach 220 employees by the end of 2026, with a long-term goal of 250.
