✈️ HAL Pushes 'Make in India' in Nashik: Major Opportunities for Local Entrepreneurs in Aircraft Component Manufacturing.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is making a decisive push to achieve 100% indigenization of its aircraft components, and it is actively calling upon local entrepreneurs in Nashik to become key partners in this mission. Currently over 40% of aircraft components are produced within India, but HAL’s ambitious goal is to source the remaining 60% domestically turning its manufactured aircraft into completely indigenous products.

This significant appeal and insight into HAL’s future procurement strategy were shared during a recent discussion at the IMA Index exhibition signaling a major opportunity for the region’s manufacturing sector.

Key Aircraft and Local Sourcing Goals

During the session HAL’s leadership—including Shirishkumar Patra (Executive Director of Aircraft Manufacturing), Nasir Ullah (Production Head) and Subrata Mandal (General Manager of Operations)—engaged directly with local business owners.

HAL’s focus is on locally sourcing components for the three key aircraft being manufactured at its Nashik facility:

  1. LCA (Light Combat Aircraft)
  2. HTT-40 (Hindustan Turbo Trainer)
  3. One more unnamed aircraft model

While some equipment for these aircraft is already being produced in Nashik, HAL officials stressed their intention to significantly increase this share. The ultimate objective is to achieve 100% component sourcing from Nashik, fully realizing the ‘Make in India’ vision within the aerospace sector. This move is poised to give a new direction to local industries and establish Nashik as a major hub for aerospace manufacturing.

🤝 Simplifying Participation and Encouraging Women in Manufacturing

To facilitate the inclusion of new partners, HAL has committed to a simplified and supportive process:

Special Focus on Women Entrepreneurs

In an encouraging move towards inclusive growth, HAL announced special opportunities and incentives tailored for women entrepreneurs.

A dedicated special cell has been established specifically for this group. This cell will provide:

HAL urged women entrepreneurs to step forward, register their enterprises, and take full advantage of these resources to increase their participation in the high-tech field of aircraft component manufacturing.

This strategic initiative by HAL is expected to unlock major opportunities across the aerospace sector for small, medium, and women entrepreneurs in the Nashik region.
